Lacura is a primary private label brand for personal care and beauty products exclusively sold at Aldi. The toothpaste line is formulated to compete with major international oral care brands, offering various versions such as whitening, sensitive, and total care. Because Aldi operates as a global retail chain, their Lacura products are sourced from various specialized manufacturers depending on the region. For the European market, production often occurs in Germany or the UK, while US or Australian markets may utilize different local or regional contract manufacturers.
The Lacura brand itself was developed by Aldi as part of its strategy to provide high-quality alternatives to national brands at a lower price point. While the individual manufacturers remain third-party suppliers, the brand identity and quality standards are strictly managed by Aldi. The brand has gained a reputation for high performance, often winning consumer awards for its efficacy relative to its cost.
Ownership of the brand is split between the two independent Aldi entities. Aldi Süd (South) and Aldi Nord (North) both utilize the Lacura brand name, though they operate as separate corporate entities with their own supply chains. This dual structure dates back to the 1960s when the Albrecht brothers split the original company. Today, they remain among the largest retail conglomerates globally, maintaining a strong focus on efficiency and private-label excellence.
