Historically and today, the vast majority of L'Occitane products are manufactured at their facility in Manosque, France. The brand prides itself on its Mediterranean roots and uses natural ingredients sourced primarily from the Provence region, while their shea butter is specifically sourced through a fair-trade partnership with women's cooperatives in Burkina Faso.

The L'Occitane Group has evolved into a multi-brand international group which was publicly listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. In 2024, the company underwent a significant transition toward private ownership by its billionaire chairman, Reinold Geiger.
