LU Prince Original

LU Prince Original is an iconic sandwich biscuit brand with a complex history spanning multiple European countries. The modern biscuit we recognize today was originally created in 1894 by the Belgian baker Edward De Beukelaer in Antwerp to honor King Leopold II. The brand eventually merged into General Biscuits and was later acquired by the French biscuit giant LU (Lefèvre-Utile), which was founded in Nantes, France, in 1846.

Today, the brand is part of the global portfolio of Mondelez International, following the split of Kraft Foods in 2012. While LU has deep French roots, the primary manufacturing hub for Prince biscuits in Europe is the massive facility in Herentals, Belgium, which is one of the largest biscuit factories in the world.

The product features a signature cocoa cream filling sandwiched between two golden, imprinted biscuits. It remains one of the most popular snacks in France and Benelux countries, maintaining its status as a staple for children's afternoon snacks (le goûter).
