The brand was established in 2013 to allow the company to sell its high-end kitchen appliances in regions where the 'Breville' trademark was already owned by a third party (Newell Brands).

While the products represent the pinnacle of Australian engineering and design—conceived at the Breville Group's headquarters in Sydney—the actual manufacturing is primarily centralized in China. This production model allows the company to maintain a balance between precision engineering and global scale. The Sage product line is recognized for its innovative 'Food Thinking' approach, incorporating advanced technology like 'Element IQ' into its countertop ovens and pressure cookers to ensure professional-grade performance for home cooks.
