Ecover Dish Soap

Ecover is a pioneer in the ecological cleaning industry, famously established in 1979 in Malle, Belgium. Founded by Frans Bogaerts, the brand was born from a mission to provide phosphate-free cleaning alternatives to protect aquatic ecosystems. It gained global recognition for its commitment to sustainability, specifically through the construction of the world's first 'ecological factory' in Malle in 1992, which features a living green roof and construction from recycled materials.

In 2012, Ecover expanded its footprint by acquiring the American eco-cleaning brand Method. However, the ownership landscape shifted significantly in 2017 when the combined Ecover and Method business (known as 'People Against Dirty') was acquired by the American consumer goods giant S. C. Johnson & Son. While Ecover maintains its plant-based formulations and eco-friendly branding, it now operates as a subsidiary of a massive multinational corporation. Manufacturing remains largely concentrated in its European facilities in Belgium and Northern France to serve its primary markets.
