Ecover is a pioneering Belgian brand founded in 1979 in Malle, Belgium, by a team of eco-pioneers who sought to create the world's first phosphate-free washing powder. The brand's mission was driven by the discovery of the environmental damage phosphates caused to aquatic life. In 2012, Ecover expanded its reach by acquiring Method, a US-based natural cleaning brand, forming the parent group 'People Against Dirty.' This group was subsequently acquired in 2017 by S. C. Johnson & Son, an American multinational. Despite the change in ownership, Ecover continues to manufacture the majority of its European product range at its original zero-waste certified facility in Belgium.
