LU Bastogne

LU Bastogne is a well-known cinnamon-flavored biscuit characterized by its crunchy texture and signature candy sugar coating. The biscuit was first created in 1952 by baker Paul Parein in Antwerp, Belgium. Its name and unique rocky appearance were inspired by the rugged landscape of the Ardennes region and the town of Bastogne.

The LU brand itself (Lefèvre-Utile) has a long history dating back to a small family bakery in Nantes, France, founded in 1846 by Jean-Romain Lefèvre and Pauline-Isabelle Utile. Over the years, the brand grew into a global confectionery leader. After several changes in corporate ownership, the LU brand was acquired by Mondelez International from Danone in 2007. Today, Bastogne biscuits are manufactured primarily in specialized facilities in Belgium and the Netherlands to serve their key markets in Western Europe and beyond.
