Ecover is a pioneering global brand founded in 1979 in Malle, Belgium. It was established with a mission to create phosphate-free cleaning products that reduce the environmental impact of traditional detergents. The brand is well-known for its ecological factory in Malle, which features a grass roof for insulation and water treatment systems that mimic naturally occurring processes.

Over the decades, Ecover expanded its reach across Europe and North America, becoming a household name for eco-conscious consumers. In 2017, the brand underwent a significant ownership change when it was acquired by the American consumer goods giant S. C. Johnson & Son. Despite this acquisition, Ecover continues to maintain its focus on plant-based and mineral ingredients, as well as innovative sustainable packaging such as their 'ecopack' refills and bottles made from recycled plastic.

Today, Ecover operates as part of the Lifestyle Brands division within S. C. Johnson alongside other green brands like Method. While its primary manufacturing hub and historical home remain in Belgium, the global distribution and corporate strategy are managed from S. C. Johnson’s headquarters in the United States.
