Wasa is a world-renowned brand of crispbread, originally founded in Sweden in 1919. The brand name comes from the Swedish King Gustav Vasa. It has evolved from a small Swedish bakery into the world's largest producer of crispbread. The product shown, 'Lichtgewicht' (Lightweight), is a airy rye-based crispbread popular for its thin texture and high fiber content.

Historically, Wasa was a Swedish company, but it was acquired by the Italian food giant Barilla Group in 1999. Since then, while the brand maintains its Scandinavian heritage and identity, the manufacturing and global distribution are integrated into Barilla's network. While the main historic factory remains in Filipstad, Sweden, a significant portion of the production for the European market, including the 'Lichtgewicht' variety, is carried out in Germany (Celle).
