Estrella is one of Sweden's most iconic snack brands, particularly famous for its salted peanuts and potato chips. The brand was founded in Gothenburg in 1946 by Algot Turestedt, who was inspired by the snack culture he witnessed in the United States. While the raw peanuts are sourced internationally (the packaging indicates peanuts from Argentina), the roasting and final production typically occur at their facility in Angered, Gothenburg.

The brand's ownership has transitioned through several major corporations over the decades, including Kraft Foods and Pepsico. Since 2014, Estrella has been part of Intersnack Group, a major European snack manufacturer based in Germany. The brand remains a household name in Sweden and maintains its historical roots through its local production and long-standing presence in the Nordic market.
