Ecover Laundry Detergent

Ecover was founded in 1979 in Malle, Belgium, as a pioneer in providing phosphate-free, ecological cleaning products. The brand became a symbol of environmental consciousness in the household detergent industry, focusing on plant-based and mineral ingredients. Its main production facility, known for its ecological design with a grass-covered roof, remains located in Belgium.

In 2012, Ecover acquired the American ecological cleaning brand Method, and the two were later merged under a unified management structure. In 2017, the combined Ecover and Method brands were acquired by the American multinational company SC Johnson. This transition moved the brand into a portfolio of widespread household names, though SC Johnson continues to market Ecover as a specialized green brand within its global operations.
