L'Occitane en Provence is a globally recognized prestige beauty and wellness brand rooted in the traditions and natural ingredients of Southern France. Founded in 1976 by Olivier Baussan, the brand began with the distillation of essential oils and has since grown into a symbol of Mediterranean luxury, focusing on natural ingredients like shea butter, lavender, and immortelle.

While the brand maintains a strong Mediterranean identity, its ownership and manufacturing have evolved with its international success. The vast majority of its manufacturing continues to take place in Manosque, France, to ensure quality and authenticity. The brand is the flagship label of the L'Occitane Group (L'Occitane International S.A.), which has expanded its portfolio to include other notable brands like Elemis and Sol de Janeiro.

In recent years, the company has undergone significant corporate structural changes. Following decades of being a publicly traded entity on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, the company was taken private in 2024 by its billionaire chairman, Reinold Geiger. Today, the brand operates as a private international enterprise headquartered in Luxembourg and Geneva, while maintaining its spiritual and production heart in Provence, France.
