LU PiM's are a classic European soft biscuit featuring a sponge base, a fruit jelly center (raspberry in this version), and a crisp dark chocolate coating. The brand LU, which stands for Lefèvre-Utile, was founded in Nantes, France, in 1846 by Jean-Romain Lefèvre and Pauline-Isabelle Utile.
Starting as a small boutique bakery, LU eventually became a global icon of French confectionery. Over many decades, the company saw various mergers and acquisitions. Today, the brand is owned by the American multinational food conglomerate Mondelēz International, which acquired the biscuit division of Danone in 2007. While the brand carries a deep French heritage, its products are now manufactured throughout Europe to serve international markets.
