La Molisana is a historic Italian pasta manufacturer known for its premium, bronze-die-cut pasta. Founded in the Molise region, the brand emphasizes the use of high-protein durum wheat and pure mountain water to produce high-quality semolina pasta. The 'Extra di Lusso' range, specifically the Farfalle Rigate featured, is crafted using traditional methods to ensure a rough texture that holds sauces exceptionally well.
Today, La Molisana remains an independently owned family company. After facing financial difficulties in the early 2010s, it was acquired by the Ferro Family (Fratelli Ferro), who are established millers in the region. This acquisition secured the brand's supply chain, allowing for complete control from the milling of the wheat to the final packaging of the pasta in their Campobasso facility. The brand continues to be a symbol of authentic Italian culinary heritage globally.
