De Ruijter is a quintessential Dutch brand founded in 1860 by C.P. de Ruijter in Baarn, Netherlands. Originally starting as a small bakery, the company became famous for its 'Muisjes' (sugar-coated aniseeds), particularly the version served to celebrate births. Over the decades, the brand expanded into a wide variety of bread toppings, most notably 'hagelslag' (chocolate sprinkles) and 'vlokken' (chocolate flakes), which have become staples in Dutch households.

While the brand maintains its historical identity and 'Royal' (Hofleverancier) status in the Netherlands, it has been part of larger international corporate structures for several decades. After being acquired by CSM in the 1990s, it eventually became part of the HJ Heinz Company. Following the mega-merger between Heinz and Kraft, the brand is now owned by The Kraft Heinz Company. Most products continue to be manufactured in the Netherlands to preserve the authentic Dutch taste and quality.
