De Ruijter is an iconic Dutch brand established in 1860 by C.P. de Ruijter, originally starting as a small bakery in Baarn. The brand is world-famous for its traditional Dutch bread toppings, particularly its Muisjes (anise seeds), which became a national staple after being served to the Royal Family during the birth of Princess Beatrix in 1938. Gestampte Muisjes are the crushed version of these traditional sugared anise seeds, offering a fine powder that is easier to spread.
Today, the brand is part of a larger global conglomerate. After being acquired by CSM and later becoming part of the Heinz portfolio, it is now owned by The Kraft Heinz Company. Despite its global ownership, production remains deeply rooted in the Netherlands to maintain the authentic taste and quality associated with its royal warrant.
