De Ruijter is a quintessential Dutch brand that has been a staple of breakfast tables in the Netherlands since 1860. Originally founded by Cornelis Rutger de Ruijter in Baarn, the company specialized in 'geboortemuisjes' (aniseed sprinkles used to celebrate births) before expanding into its now-famous chocolate sprinkles and flakes. The brand earned the title of Purveyor to the Royal Household, which is reflected in the crown logo seen on its packaging.
Today, De Ruijter products, including these milk chocolate flakes, are primarily manufactured in the Netherlands. The brand underwent several ownership changes over the decades; it was acquired by CSM in 1990 and later became part of the HJ Heinz company in 2001. Following the 2015 merger of Kraft and Heinz, the brand is now part of the global portfolio of The Kraft Heinz Company, one of the largest food and beverage organizations in the world.
