De Ruijter is a quintessential Dutch brand specializing in bread toppings, notably 'hagelslag' (sprinkles). Founded in 1860 by C.P. de Ruijter in Baarn, the brand earned a Royal warrant in 1883. The Hagelfeest product is a colorful variety of sprinkles typically used on buttered bread, a staple of Dutch breakfast culture.
Today, the brand is manufactured primarily in the Netherlands, maintaining its local heritage. Ownership has transitioned from a family business to being part of larger food conglomerates. Since 2015, following the merger of Kraft and Heinz, De Ruijter has been a brand under the Kraft Heinz Company. While it remains a deeply rooted Dutch icon, its ultimate corporate parent is a multinational based in the United States, managed through a Dutch subsidiary in Amsterdam.
