LEGO is a globally recognized Danish brand that revolutionized the toy industry with its interlocking plastic brick system. Originally founded in 1932 by Ole Kirk Christiansen in Billund, Denmark, the company began by producing wooden toys before introducing the iconic plastic brick in 1949 and patenting the modern stud-and-tube design in 1958.

Today, the LEGO Group remains a private, family-owned company. It is controlled by the Kristiansen family through their investment firm, KIRKBI A/S, and the LEGO Foundation. While its global headquarters remain in Billund, the brand has massive operations worldwide, including a major Americas regional headquarters which is completing a high-profile move from Connecticut to Boston, Massachusetts, by the end of 2026.

LEGO products are manufactured in several strategic locations to serve global markets. Key production facilities are located in Denmark (Billund), Hungary (Nyíregyháza), Mexico (Monterrey), the Czech Republic (Kladno), and China (Jiaxing). A new billion-dollar manufacturing facility is also established in Virginia, USA, to strengthen its supply chain across the Americas.
