Estrella Saltade is a classic salted potato chip brand rooted in Swedish snack history. The brand was founded in Gothenburg, Sweden, in 1946 by Folke Andersson, who was inspired by the snack culture in South America. The name 'Estrella' actually means 'star' in Spanish, reflecting its international origins despite being a staple of the Swedish market.
Today, the production primarily takes place at Estrella's factory in Angered, just outside of Gothenburg, using mainly Swedish potatoes. Through various acquisitions over the decades, the brand is currently owned by the German snack food giant Intersnack Group. Intersnack is a major player in the European savory snack market, overseeing a vast portfolio of regional and international brands.
