Estrella is one of Scandinavia's most recognized snack brands, famous for its potato chips and peanut-based snacks like the Jordnötsringar (Peanut Rings) shown here. The brand was founded in Sweden in 1946 by Folke Andersson, who drew inspiration from snack culture in South America. Manufacturing for the Swedish market takes place in Angered, Gothenburg, where the company maintains its primary production facility to ensure freshness and quality for the Nordic region.
While Estrella started as a Swedish independent venture and was later part of various corporate structures including Kraft Foods (Mondelez), it is currently owned by Intersnack Group. Intersnack, a major German food company based in Düsseldorf, is one of the leading snack manufacturers in Europe. This ownership provides Estrella with extensive resources while allowing the brand to maintain its local Swedish heritage and taste profiles that have made it a staple in the Swedish 'fredagsmys' (Friday cozy) tradition.
