Estrella is a iconic Swedish brand famous for its snacks, particularly its potato chips. The brand was founded in 1946 by Folke Andersson, who was inspired by snack trends in the United States. While the name 'Estrella' is the Spanish word for star, the company's roots and primary operations are firmly established in Sweden.
Most Estrella products sold in Northern Europe are manufactured at their facility in Angered, outside Gothenburg, Sweden, using primarily Swedish-grown potatoes. Over the decades, ownership has changed hands several times. Today, Estrella is part of the Estrella Maarud Group, which is owned by Intersnack Group, a major European snack food manufacturer headquartered in Germany. This ownership provides the brand with extensive distribution networks across Europe while maintaining its local heritage in the Nordic market.
