La Paille d'Or is one of the most iconic biscuit brands in France, originally created in 1905 by the Lefèvre-Utile company. These thin, straw-shaped wafers filled with fruit purée (raspberry in this case) represent a heritage of French pastry craftsmanship.
Directly manufactured in France, as indicated by the 'Fabrication Française' logo on the packaging, the product maintains its local production roots despite the brand's global corporate history. LU, founded in Nantes in 1846, has transitioned through several owners over the decades.
Today, the brand is owned by Mondelez International, an American multinational food conglomerate. Mondelez acquired the biscuit division of Danone in 2007, making it the ultimate owner of this historic French heritage brand.
