La Molisana is a premier pasta brand originating from Campobasso, in the Molise region of Italy. Founded in 1912 by the Ferro family, the company is unique because it manages the entire production chain, from the selection of high-quality durum wheat to the milling process and the final pasta production. The brand is particularly known for using extremely pure water from the Matese mountains and for its traditional bronze-die extrusion (trafilata al bronzo), which creates a rough surface that holds sauces better.
The product shown is the Spaghetto Quadrato No. 1, a square-shaped spaghetti that has become one of the brand's signatures. Despite facing financial difficulties in the early 2000s, the brand was acquired and revitalized by the Ferro Group in 2011. Today, La Molisana remains an Italian-owned entity and stands as one of the largest and most respected pasta producers in Italy, exporting its authentic Italian-made products to markets worldwide, including Canada.
