General is one of the world's most recognized snus brands, established in Sweden with a history dating back to 1866. The brand was created by Johan Adolf Boman, who spent years developing the perfect tobacco blend consisting of 22 different tobaccos and a drop of bergamot oil.

Today, the product is manufactured in Sweden by Swedish Match. In late 2022, Philip Morris International (PMI) completed a major acquisition of Swedish Match, making them the ultimate owner of the brand. This acquisition was a strategic move by PMI to expand its smoke-free product portfolio. While the ownership is now American, the production remains deeply rooted in Swedish tradition and manufacturing facilities.
