LU (Lefèvre-Utile) is an iconic French biscuit brand with a rich history dating back to 1846, when it was founded by Jean-Romain Lefèvre and Pauline-Isabelle Utile in Nantes, France. The brand's name is a portmanteau of their initials. The 'Petit Écolier' (Little Schoolboy) range, featuring a distinctive chocolate tablet embossed with a schoolboy figure, was created in 1897 and remains one of their most celebrated products.

Historically, the brand was a family-owned enterprise until it was acquired by Groupe Danone in 1986. In 2007, the brand underwent a significant transition when it was sold to Kraft Foods. Following a corporate restructuring in 2012, LU became a flagship brand under Mondelēz International, an American multinational confectionery and snack food giant. Today, while the brand is owned by a U.S. corporation, production remains heavily focused in France, particularly in the Nantes region, preserving its cultural heritage.
