KitKat is a chocolate-covered wafer bar confection created by Rowntree's of York, United Kingdom, and is now produced globally. For most of the world (including Europe), it is produced by Nestlé. In the United States, it is made under license by the H.B. Reese Candy Company, a division of Hershey.
The brand has a rich history dating back to 1935 when it was launched as Rowntree's Chocolate Crisp. Following Nestlé's acquisition of Rowntree's in 1988, the brand expanded significantly. Interestingly, because of a pre-existing licensing agreement made in 1970, Hershey maintains the rights to produce and distribute KitKat in the U.S., resulting in different manufacturing locations and recipes between the U.S. and the rest of the world. The specific product in the image features the F1 (Formula 1) partnership logo, which is part of a global marketing campaign launched in 2024-2025.
