De Ruijter is a historic Dutch brand established in 1860 by Cornelis Willem de Ruijter in Baarn, Netherlands. The brand is iconic in Dutch culture, particularly known for its 'hagelslag' (chocolate sprinkles) and 'muisjes' (anise seeds), which are traditionally eaten on bread. The brand holds a Royal Warrant, as reflected in its crown logo and the 'Royaal' product line.
While the brand remains deeply rooted in Dutch heritage and continues to manufacture its products primarily in the Netherlands, the ownership has evolved significantly over the years. It was originally a family-owned business before being acquired by CSM in 1990. Following a series of mergers and global corporate consolidations, the brand became part of the Kraft Heinz portfolio. Today, De Ruijter is managed by The Kraft Heinz Company, headquartered in Chicago and Pittsburgh, USA, making it a subsidiary of one of the world's largest food and beverage conglomerates.
