Ecover is a pioneering brand in the ecological cleaning sector, founded in 1979 in Malle, Belgium. The company was established with the mission of creating phosphate-free cleaning products long before environmental sustainability became a mainstream concern. Its iconic ecological factory in Malle, featuring a living green roof, serves as a testament to its commitment to sustainable production.

Over the decades, Ecover expanded its reach significantly, acquiring the San Francisco-based sustainable cleaning brand Method in 2012. This merger joined two of the most prominent names in green cleaning under the umbrella of People Against Dirty. In 2017, the organization underwent a major ownership shift when it was acquired by SC Johnson, a global leader in household cleaning products.

Today, while Ecover continues to manufacture a significant portion of its European supply at its original Belgian site and a dedicated facility in the United Kingdom, it operates as part of SC Johnson's lifestyle brand portfolio. This ownership allows Ecover to leverage global distribution networks while maintaining its focus on biodegradable, plant-based ingredients and refillable packaging solutions to reduce plastic waste.
