It was originally developed in the United Kingdom by the American Chicle Company in response to the growing demand for dental-friendly snacks. The brand was the first patented sugarless gum to use saccharin instead of sugar, marketing itself as 'Great Taste that is Good for Your Teeth.' Today, Trident is a core brand of Mondelēz International, a global snack giant. While Mondelēz is headquartered in the United States, Trident is manufactured in numerous localized facilities to serve regional markets. In Brazil, it is heavily produced in a dedicated plant in Bauru, São Paulo, which is one of the largest gum factories in the world, ensuring that the product sold in the Brazilian market is largely locally sourced.
