Wasa is a heritage brand founded in Sweden in 1919, eventually becoming the world's largest producer of crispbread. The 'Integrale' variety is a whole-grain rye crispbread known for its simple ingredients and high fiber content. Historically a Swedish staple, the brand expanded across Europe and North America, becoming a global leader in its category.
Today, Wasa is owned by the Italian food giant Barilla, which acquired the brand in 1999. While its roots and original bakeries are in Filipstad, Sweden, production has also expanded to locations like Celle, Germany, to meet international demand. The brand remains committed to its classic Nordic baking traditions under the stewardship of Barilla's global distribution network.
