Wasa is a historic Swedish brand founded in 1919 by Karl Edvard Lundström in Skellefteå. Originally known as Vasabrödet, it became the world's largest producer of crispbread, a traditional Scandinavian staple. The brand is deeply rooted in Swedish food culture but has expanded its reach globally over the last century.

In 1999, the brand was acquired by the Barilla Group, a major Italian food multinational. While the brand originated in Sweden and maintains a strong presence there with its flagship bakery in Filipstad, its gluten-free product lines are primarily manufactured in dedicated facilities in Germany. Today, Wasa continues to operate as a subsidiary of Barilla, focusing on healthy, fiber-rich, and sustainable snack options for a global market.
