Estrella is a leading brand of savory snacks, most notably known for its potato chips and variety of nut products throughout the Nordic and Baltic regions. The brand was founded in 1946 in Sweden by Folke Andersson, who was inspired by his travels to New York where he first tasted potato chips. The name 'Estrella' means 'star' in Spanish, reflecting Andersson's history of importing bananas from South America before entering the snack market. Since its inception, the brand has been a pioneer in the industry, famously being the first to introduce Sourcream & Onion chips to the Swedish market.

Today, Estrella is part of the Intersnack Group, a major European snack manufacturer. While the company maintains a strong national identity in Sweden, with its main manufacturing facility and 'Potato Chips House of Excellence' located in Angered (Gothenburg), it also operates in conjunction with other regional brands like Maarud in Norway. Ownership has transitioned from the founder to major international corporations over several decades, including Kraft Foods and later Herkules Capital, before being acquired by its current owner in 2014.
