Aveeno is a globally recognized skincare and haircare brand that specializes in products for sensitive skin, dermatological issues, and baby care. The brand was founded in 1945 by two American brothers, Sidney and Albert Musher, who collaborated with the Mayo Clinic to study the therapeutic benefits of colloidal oatmeal. Its name is derived from the scientific name for the common oat, Avena sativa.
Throughout its history, Aveeno has changed hands several times. It was originally founded under the Musher brothers' leadership before being acquired by Cooper Laboratories, then S.C. Johnson & Son in 1984, and eventually Johnson & Johnson in 1999. In 2023, as part of a major corporate restructuring, Johnson & Johnson spun off its consumer health division into a new independent, publicly traded company called Kenvue. As of 2026, Aveeno remains a flagship brand under Kenvue's portfolio.
Manufacturing of Aveeno products occurs in multiple locations globally to serve different markets. Primary production facilities are located in the United States and Canada, though contract manufacturing and regional production also take place in other parts of the world to meet international demand.
