Wasabröd is a historic Swedish brand founded by Karl Edvard Lundström in Skellefteå in 1919. It eventually grew to become the world's largest producer of crispbread, known for its traditional rye flour recipes. The brand moved its main production center to Filipstad in the 1930s, which remains the heart of its manufacturing activities today.

In terms of ownership, the company was acquired by the Swiss pharmaceutical and food giant Sandoz (later Novartis) in 1982. In 1999, it was sold to the Italian family-owned food company Barilla Group. Today, Wasabröd operates as a key brand within the Barilla portfolio, maintaining its Swedish heritage while being part of a global food distribution network. Manufacturing remains centralized in Sweden and Germany to serve international markets.
