LU, which stands for Lefèvre-Utile, is an iconic French biscuit brand with a history dating back to 1846. It was founded in Nantes by Jean-Romain Lefèvre and his wife Pauline-Isabelle Utile. The brand is famous for its classic designs, such as the Petit-Beurre, which features 52 'teeth' to represent the weeks of the year.

Over the decades, the company transitioned from a family-run business to a global powerhouse. In 1986, it was acquired by Groupe Danone, and later sold to Kraft Foods in 2007. Following the corporate split of Kraft Foods in 2012, the brand became a flagship part of Mondelēz International. While its spiritual home and major production facilities remain in France (notably near Nantes), LU products are now manufactured in various facilities across Europe and the world to meet global demand.
