Persil Expert Freshness detergent

Persil is a renowned brand of laundry detergent introduced in 1907 by Henkel, a German multinational company. The name 'Persil' is derived from two of its original ingredients: sodium perborate ('per') and sodium silicate ('sil'). Initially, Henkel manufactured and marketed Persil exclusively in Germany. However, in 1909, Joseph Crosfield & Sons acquired the patent rights and trademarks for the UK and most of the British Empire, including Egypt and Sudan. This acquisition led to the production of Persil in the UK. In 1919, Lever Brothers (now part of Unilever) acquired Crosfield's business, including Persil, in the UK and other regions. Consequently, Henkel and Unilever have co-existed as separate entities, each manufacturing and marketing Persil in different parts of the world. Henkel continues to produce Persil in Germany and other countries, while Unilever manufactures it in the UK, Ireland, France, Latin America (except Mexico), China, Australia, and New Zealand. In the United States, Henkel North American Consumer Goods, a subsidiary of Henkel AG & Co. KGaA, markets Persil. Therefore, the manufacturing and ownership of Persil vary by region, with Henkel and Unilever both producing and marketing the brand in different countries.
