Pickwick is a storied Dutch tea brand with a heritage dating back to 1753 when Egbert Douwe founded the Douwe Egberts company in Joure, Netherlands. The brand name 'Pickwick' was officially introduced in 1937, inspired by Charles Dickens' novel The Pickwick Papers. Today, Pickwick is a market leader in the Netherlands and Denmark, known for its extensive range of black, green, and fruit-infused teas.
Historically part of the Douwe Egberts portfolio, the brand transitioned through various corporate restructures, including a period under the American Sara Lee Corporation. Following a series of mergers and spin-offs, Pickwick is now owned by JDE Peet's, a global coffee and tea powerhouse headquartered in the Netherlands. Most Pickwick products are manufactured in Dutch facilities, though production may occur in other European locations to serve regional markets.
