De Cecco is one of the world's most prestigious pasta brands, originating from the Abruzzo region of Italy. The company's roots date back to 1831 when Nicola Antonio De Cecco established a stone mill in Fara San Martino. However, the official pasta factory was founded in 1886 by his son, Filippo Giovanni De Cecco. A major historical milestone for the brand was Filippo's invention of a low-temperature drying system in 1889, which allowed the company to produce high-quality pasta consistently regardless of weather conditions, facilitating its early international expansion.

Today, De Cecco remains a family-owned enterprise, controlled by the third, fourth, and fifth generations of the De Cecco family. The company operates multiple production facilities, with the primary plants still located in its historic home of Fara San Martino and a newer facility in Ortona, both in Italy. While it is a global brand with distribution in over 80 countries, it maintains its reputation for quality through traditional methods like using bronze-drawn dies and slow drying. The ownership is currently shared among several branches of the family, with Filippo Antonio De Cecco serving as a key figure in the leadership.
