Pickwick is a storied Dutch tea brand with roots dating back to 1753. Originally founded under the umbrella of Douwe Egberts, it was named after Charles Dickens' 'The Pickwick Papers' to evoke a classic British feel for its tea blends. Despite its English branding and imagery—such as the horse-drawn carriage seen on the packaging—the brand is quintessentially Dutch.
Today, Pickwick is part of JDE Peet's, a global coffee and tea powerhouse headquartered in Amsterdam. While the tea leaves are sourced from various international regions like Sri Lanka, Indonesia, and Africa, the blending and packaging largely take place in the Netherlands, primarily at their facilities in Joure. The brand remains a household name in Europe, specializing in both traditional black teas and various fruit and herbal infusions.
