Snickers bar

Snickers was introduced in 1930 by Mars, Inc. and is famously named after the Mars family's favorite horse. The chocolate bar—a combination of nougat, caramel, and roasted peanuts coated in milk chocolate—was developed by Frank Mars and his son Forrest Mars Sr. in Chicago. Today, it is recognized as a global icon and one of the best-selling candy bars in the world.

Ownership of the brand has remained consistent throughout its history; it is owned by Mars, Incorporated, a massive privately-held multinational corporation. Headquartered in McLean, Virginia, the company is still entirely owned by members of the Mars family. In late 2025, the parent company significantly expanded its portfolio by completing the acquisition of Kellanova, further cementing its position as a global snacking giant.

Manufacturing of Snickers takes place at numerous facilities worldwide to meet regional demand. In North America, a substantial portion of production occurs in Waco, Texas, while international markets are served by major factories in countries such as Australia, China, the Netherlands, and Germany. This global production footprint allows Mars to produce over 15 million bars daily to supply more than 70 countries.
