De Cecco is one of the world's most prestigious pasta brands, epitomizing the "Made in Italy" standard of quality. Founded in 1886 by the De Cecco brothers in the small town of Fara San Martino, Abruzzo, the company's roots actually trace back to 1831 when Nicola Antonio De Cecco began his milling business. The brand is famous for the "De Cecco Method," a unique production process involving low-temperature, slow drying that preserves the nutritional value and organoleptic properties of the wheat. This method was traditionally developed by Filippo Giovanni De Cecco in 1889 to overcome the challenges of the local climate.
Today, De Cecco remains a family-owned enterprise, with ownership spanning the third to fifth generations of the De Cecco family. It operates through its parent company, F.lli De Cecco di Filippo Fara San Martino S.p.A., and is headquartered in the same region where it began. The product line has expanded beyond dry pasta to include olive oil, sauces, and tomato products, though pasta remains its flagship offering. Manufacturing is primarily concentrated in Italy at their facilities in Fara San Martino and Ortona, ensuring that the brand maintains its authentic Italian heritage and quality control.
