Wasa is one of the most iconic brands in the crispbread category, with a history dating back to 1919. Originally founded in Skellefteå, Sweden, the brand has become a household name across Europe and North America. The "Sport" variety is a traditional hearty rye crispbread known for its high fiber content and wholegrain ingredients.
While the brand maintains its Nordic heritage, its manufacturing processes are primarily located in dedicated facilities in Filipstad, Sweden, and Celle, Germany. In 1999, the brand was acquired by the Italian food giant Barilla, which continues to manage Wasa as a key part of its global bakery portfolio. The brand's presence in Denmark is long-standing, reflecting the Scandinavian preference for whole-grain rye products.
