Grupo Cidacos, founded in Autol (La Rioja) in 1940, is one of Spain's leading vegetable preservation companies. For Mercadona's Hacendado brand, they utilize factories in locations such as La Puebla de Montalbán in Toledo, where they process tomatoes harvested directly from Spanish fields. This strategy ensures high quality and local sourcing, which has made Hacendado a dominant player in the Spanish grocery market.

Mercadona itself was founded in 1977 by Francisco Roig Ballester and is currently led by his son, Juan Roig. The company is famous for its 'Total Provider' model, maintaining long-term exclusive contracts with local manufacturers like Cidacos to produce its signature Hacendado products.
