Aquafresh is a globally recognized oral hygiene brand that revolutionized the industry in 1973 as the first striped toothpaste. Originally featuring blue and white stripes to signify fresh breath and cavity protection, it evolved into its signature 'Triple Protection' formula in 1983 with the addition of a red stripe for gum health.

The brand was originally developed by Smith Kline & French (which later became part of SmithKline Beecham). For decades, it was a cornerstone of GlaxoSmithKline's (GSK) consumer healthcare portfolio. In July 2022, GSK spun off its consumer healthcare division into a new independent company called Haleon. As of 2026, Haleon remains the ultimate owner and operator of the brand. While the brand originated in the United Kingdom, manufacturing is distributed globally across multiple facilities, including major sites in the UK, Slovakia, and Germany, to serve international markets.
