Wasa Knäckebröd

Wasa is the world's largest producer of crispbread, a staple of Scandinavian dietary culture. Founded in Sweden in 1919, the brand has become synonymous with healthy, fiber-rich snacks and traditional baking methods. Originally starting as a small bakery in Skellefteå, it expanded rapidly across Europe due to the long shelf life and nutritional value of its rye-based products.

Today, the brand is owned by the Italian food giant Barilla Group, which acquired Wasa in 1999. While its cultural heritage remains deeply Swedish, manufacturing is now distributed across key facilities in Sweden (Filipstad) and Germany (Celle) to serve its global market. The brand continues to focus on sustainability, achieving carbon neutrality across its production lines in recent years.
