Pickwick Tea

Pickwick is a renowned Dutch tea brand with a heritage dating back to 1753. It was founded by Egbert Douwes and his wife Akke in Joure, Friesland, initially operating as a small shop under the name Douwe Egberts that sold coffee, tobacco, and tea. For over 180 years, the tea continued to be sold under the founder's name until 1937, when it was rebranded as Pickwick. The new name was suggested by the wife of the director at the time, Johannes Hessel, who was inspired by Charles Dickens' first novel, The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club.

Today, Pickwick is a global leader in the tea industry, particularly dominant in the Netherlands and Denmark. It is widely recognized for its extensive range of flavored black teas, green teas, and herbal infusions. The brand is currently managed by JDE Peet's (Jacobs Douwe Egberts), a major global coffee and tea company headquartered in Amsterdam. Manufacturing primarily remains concentrated in the Netherlands, specifically in the original corporate home of Joure, ensuring a high level of quality control and adherence to its traditional Dutch roots.
