De Ruijter is a quintessential Dutch brand specializing in chocolate bread toppings, a tradition deeply rooted in Dutch breakfast culture. Founded in 1860 by C.P. de Ruijter in Baarn, the brand gained prestigious recognition, including the title of 'Purveyor to the Royal Household'. The 'Vlokfeest' product featured in the image consists of mixed milk and white chocolate flakes, representing a classic 'hagelslag' or 'vlokken' experience popular in the Netherlands.
Historically, the brand remained family-owned until it was acquired by CSM in 1990. It later became part of the Heinz portfolio in 2001. Following the 2015 merger of Kraft and Heinz, the brand is currently owned by The Kraft Heinz Company. Most products are manufactured in the Netherlands, specifically at their facility in Utrecht, ensuring local production for their primary market.
