Barilla Spaghetti N°5 is one of the most widely recognized pasta products in the world. The Barilla brand was founded in 1877 by Pietro Barilla senior as a small bakery and pasta shop in Parma, Italy. Over more than a century, it has grown into an international leader in pasta, sauces, and bakery goods.

The brand remains privately owned by the Barilla family through the holding company Barilla Holding S.p.A., headquartered in Parma, Italy. While Barilla operates production facilities in various countries, including the United States and Greece, the majority of pasta distributed throughout the European market, including France, is manufactured in Italy, notably at its main plant in Pedrignano near Parma.
