The Trappist Abbey of Westmalle is a Belgian Trappist brewery located in Westmalle, Belgium. It produces three beers, all designated as Trappist beer by the International Trappist Association. The brewery is owned and operated by the monks of the abbey, who have been brewing beer since 1836. The Westmalle Tripel, first brewed in 1934, is credited with being the first golden strong pale ale to use the term 'Tripel'.
